Description
A not-for-profit organisation based in Barcelona, the Foundation works to advance Design for All. This approach places the user at the centre of the design process, with the aim of allowing anyone, regardless of individual characteristics or the changes which take place over a lifetime, to access and interact with user-friendly products, services and environments.
The Foundation’s work is twofold. First, it seeks to deepen understanding and share knowledge by:
- Developing a robust theoretical framework, through methodologies such as Francesc Aragall’s HUMBLES method.
- Creating international networks bringing together multilingual, multimedia Design for All resources in different sectors. These include: Towns and Cities for All, Museum for All and User-Centred Business.
- Disseminating multilingual news, events, articles and other resources via its newsletter and websites.
- Presenting at conferences, workshops and academic courses.
Second, it aims to recognise, reward and disseminate examples of best practice in Design for All at the international level, with the aim of encouraging its implementation by public, private and not-for-profit organisations worldwide.
