Online event, 27 April 2021, 9:30am -12pm
Join the Design Age Institute(DAI) for ‘Age, Agency & Joy’, the first public event celebrating the establishment of the DAI as the UK’s National Strategic Unit for Design and the Healthy Ageing economy.
For this virtual celebration, the DAI invites designers, businesses, service-providers, researchers, policy-makers, and ageing humans to explore the power of design and design thinking to equip individuals and communities with the products and services they need to maintain agency and experience joy at every age.
The DAI was set up in 2020 to respond to the challenges and opportunities of an ageing society as part of the UK Government’s Grand Challenge on Ageing. Funded by Research England, the DAI brings together expertise from across research, design and innovation including the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design(HHCD) at the Royal College of Art (RCA); the National Innovation Centre for Ageingat Newcastle University (NICA), University of Oxford’s Institute of Population Ageing(OIPA), the International Longevity Centre(ILC) and Design Museum.
