On 15 December, the Extraordinary General Assembly of EIDD – Design for All unanimously voted to embrace a bold, shared future: transitioning our name from EIDD Design for All Europe to : EIDD Design for All.
This change represents more than just cancelling a word. It marks a deliberate step forward, opening our doors to the world and embracing a global vision of inclusion, responsibility, and human-centered design.
As our Honorary Member Patricia Moore eloquently reminds us,
” the path ahead is built on love, sweet love, and on Design for All grounded in equity and empathy”
These values remain our compass as we expand our community, dialogue, and impact across continents and cultures.
And from our president Rama:
“Rabindranath Tagore once wrote, ‘Power said to the world, “You are mine,” and the world imprisoned him on her throne – Love said to the world, “I am yours,” and the world gave him the freedom of her house.’
This quote resonates as we make this shift. When design is held too tightly, it can become exclusive, limited by ownership, status, or authority. But when it is guided by care, humility, and love for people, it transforms into a force that opens doors rather than guards them.
By choosing to stand as Design for All, we liberate design from being exclusive and recommit to creating it with and for everyone”.
President Rama Gherawoo, along with the entire board and ambassadors, warmly thanks all members for making this encouraging and historic moment possible. Your commitment, trust, and shared vision have paved the way.
We look forward with enthusiasm and confidence, inspired by what we can achieve together globally, inclusively, and with purpose.
